He sustained this position subsequently with short-story collections (<em class=\"calibre3\">A Tree of Night<\/em>, among others), novels and novellas (The <em class=\"calibre3\">Grass Harp<\/em> and <em class=\"calibre3\">Breakfast at Tiffany\u2019s<\/em>), some of the best travel writing of our time (<em class=\"calibre3\">Local Color<\/em>), profiles and reportage that appeared originally in <em class=\"calibre3\">The New Yorker<\/em> (<em class=\"calibre3\">The Duke in His Domain<\/em> and <em class=\"calibre3\">The Muses Are Heard<\/em>) a true crime masterpiece (<em class=\"calibre3\">In Cold Blood<\/em>), several short memoirs about his childhood in the South (<em class=\"calibre3\">A Christmas Memory, The Thanksgiving Visitor<\/em>, and <em class=\"calibre3\">One Christmas<\/em>), two plays <em class=\"calibre3\">(The Grass Harp<\/em> and <em class=\"calibre3\">House of Flowers<\/em>), and two films (<em class=\"calibre3\">Beat the Devil<\/em> and <em class=\"calibre3\">The Innocents<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"nonindent\">Mr. Capote twice won the O. Henry Memorial Short Story Prize and was a member of the National Institute of Arts and Letters.
