The skeleton had been in the ground for a long time. Joe Quinn had seen enough of them to The Killing Game \u2013 Eve Duncan 02 <\/b><\/p>\n

He turned to Sheriff Bosworth. “Who found it?” <\/p>\n

“Two hikers. They stumbled on it late last night. Those rains the past few days washed it out of the ground. Hell, that storm slid half the mountain into the falls. A real gully washer.” His gaze narrowed on Joe\u2019s face. “You must have hotfooted up here from Atlanta as soon as you heard about it.” <\/p>\n

“You think it\u2019s connected to one of Atlanta PD\u2019s cases?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe.” He paused. “No. This is an adult.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re looking for a kid?” <\/p>\n

“Yes.” Every day. Every night. Always. He shrugged. “The initial report didn\u2019t say whether it was an adult or a child.” <\/p>\n

Bosworth bristled. “So? I never have to make reports like this. We\u2019re pretty crime free here. <\/p>\n

“You knew enough to recognize possible knife wounds to the skeleton\u2019s rib cage. But I do admit our problems are a little different. What\u2019s your population?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t come up here and slam me, Quinn. We\u2019ve got a strong law enforcement body. We don\u2019t need any city cops messing around our jurisdiction.” He\u2019d made a mistake, Joe thought wearily. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
