Nykkyo Kyhana stepped into the living room of the house in Queens. \u201cHey, Nick!\u201d he called. <\/p>\n

\u201cHey, Nick,\u201d Nicky answered, laughed and ran toward him. Nyk traded high-fives with the boy, picked him up and kissed him. <\/p>\n

\u201cDo you know what day today is?\u201d Nyk asked. <\/p>\n

\u201cBirthday!\u201d Nicky replied. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd, what do you get on your birthday?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cCome on, buddy — let’s go see Grandma.\u201d <\/p>\n

Nyk set the boy down and he climbed into a chair with a booster seat. Yasuko set a cake with three candles on the table. \u201cBlow them out, buddy — while I take your picture.\u201d <\/p>\n

Yasuko cut pieces of cake. \u201cCan you believe three, Yasuko?\u201d Nyk asked. <\/p>\n

She shook her head. \u201cI cannot.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cHere, buddy,\u201d Nyk said and handed Nicky a package. <\/p>\n

Nicky ripped off the paper and opened a case containing two child-sized chopsticks. \u201cNick!\u201d Yasuko exclaimed. \u201cThose for him?\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
