Divinity Destroyed… <\/p>\n

For a long while, I wondered if Dragonfly was stil in the heavens<\/p>\n

and whether the Spheres of Plague stil floated in airlessness, <\/p>\n

blind eyes watchful. I wondered whether men stil looked to the<\/p>\n

stars with trepidation and whether the skies yet bore the<\/p>\n

cancerous seed of mankind. There was no way for me to find<\/p>\n

out, for I lived in Hel during those days, where news of the living<\/p>\n

gained precious little circulation. <\/p>\n

I was a digger into minds, a head-tripper. I esped. I found<\/p>\n

secrets, knew lies, and reported al these things for a price. I<\/p>\n

esped. Some questions were never meant to be answered; <\/p>\n

some parts of a man’s mind were never intended for scrutiny. <\/p>\n

Yet our curiosity is, at the same time, our greatest virtue and our<\/p>\n

most serious weakness. I had within my mind the power to<\/p>\n

satisfy any curiosity which tickled me. I esped; I found; I knew. <\/p>\n

And then there was a darkness in my soul, darkness unmatched<\/p>\n

by the depths of space that lay lightless between the galaxies, <\/p>\n

an ebony ache without paral el. <\/p>\n

It started with a nerve-jangling ring of the telephone, a mundane<\/p>\n

I put down the book I was reading and lifted the receiver and<\/p>\n

said, impatiently perhaps, “Hel o?” <\/p>\n

“Simeon?” the distant voice asked. He pronounced it correctly<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
