\nDoc\u2019s smile broadened. \u201cI think you may have missed my point, dear boy. If he has this one aim in mind\u2014that Krysty become converted to his cause in order to convert us\u2014then he will do all within his power to keep her alive and well. It\u2019s in his best interest. And, of course, he is unwittingly buying us time to find and destroy him.\u201d<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\u201cHe\u2019s going to be looking for us sooner or later, right?\u201d J.B. pointed out.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\u201cExactly,\u201d Doc agreed. \u201cThe irony is that he has mistaken our pragmatism for a sense of spurious justice, and faith in a law that no longer exists. A misunderstanding that will lead him straight back to us. In a sense, we have no need to chase him. He will come to us.\u201d<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nRyan\u2019s face split into a grin for the first time since they\u2019d lost Krysty. \u201cGuess you\u2019re right, Doc. But let\u2019s go after the coldheart anyway.\u201d<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
